Bottom Bracket Boys: Biking Through Black History

Riding a bicycle can be a singularly transformative activity. Here is this complex vehicle. Yet, the act of propelling this piece of machinery can seem the simplest thing. You are one with the bike, and together, the bike and you are one with the flows of the rushing wind. Cycling can offer an intoxicating sense of freedom. In a world where so much so often feels restrictive and oppressive, we get to grab our two-wheelers and soar far beyond it all. Ariel Marlowe and Brandon “BG” Grant long ago discovered the healing and unifying virtues of cycling. These charming chums are two of the three founding members of the Austin-based Bottom Bracket Boys cycling group, which gives riders of all races opportunities to learn Black Austin history, while making sure that Black riders are seen, embraced, protected, and fully supported.
